Michael van Gerwen is successfully through to the World Series of Darts Finals semi-finals on home soil in Amsterdam after edging past Jonny Clayton.

As so is often the case, it was close throughout but a late surge from Van Gerwen saw him claim victory and keep his hopes alive of regaining his title which he lost a year ago in front of his home fans.
Clayton was excellent to start off proceedings going 3-1 up with four 180's in as many legs as he looked to cause a real shock against Mighty Mike.
Despite that, at the interval it was 3-2 as Van Gerwen pegged him back to keep on him. Clayton though continued his brilliant start going 4-2 up.
It couldn't be extended though with Van Gerwen smashing in a 132 checkout on the bull to break back for four a piece.
He went ahead for the first time at 5-4 up but there was nothing to choose between the pair in the opening exchanges as it ended up at 5-5.
A break to go 8-6 up though was the real difference for MVG as he opened a two-leg cushion for the first time. It was three legs in a row as he went 9-6 up to take the match by the scruff of the neck.
He concluded victory from there and will continue to be favourite going into the final session later this evening.
