Michael van Gerwen has opened his Premier League restart by sweeping aside Rob Cross in a 7-2 win in a quality display which sees him move back atop the table (for now at least).
Van Gerwen didn't have it all his own way though and went 2-1 down to Cross in the early going but despite that, he still turned it around to edge 3-2 with Cross not able to capitalise.
Mighty Mike continued to get stronger which included an 87 checkout on the bull from there to make it 4-2 and from there it was very much pedestrian for the World Number One.
Cross missed a dart at double five and Van Gerwen went 5-2 and a 14-darter saw a point guaranteed. It was soon victory for MVG as he hit a 103.3 average with three 180's en route.
