''Van Gerwen's averages are higher than Phil Taylor’s'' - Van den Bergh makes big statement on greatest of all time debate

It's a regular discussion. Who is the best dart player ever? The most frequently mentioned names are Michael van Gerwen and the now-retired Phil Taylor.

Speaking to Bettingsites, Van den Bergh weighed in on this debate. According to the 29-year-old darter from Belgium, Van Gerwen has made a stronger impression than Taylor in his top form, despite the fact that 'The Power' has become world champion 16 times versus three world titles for the Dutchman.

“I still go for MvG. His highest averages are higher than Phil Taylor’s. On that basis I would go for him. It’s all about the stats," explains the Belgian. "I know that Phil has achieved the most World Championship wins but MvG can average 105 or 110 when he needs to. Even a 125 average. Incredible.”
