Luke Humphries stoked the fire throughout the Perfect Challenge about what is easier out of a nine-dart finish, 147 and hole-in-one and he showed that he perhaps has untapped skills on the snooker table.
Humphries ended the Paddy Power Perfect Challenge stream which was won by Shaun Murphy as he was the only one to hit a 147. But he soon embarrassed himself on the dartboard.
Claiming to be the only sportsman to hit all three of the feats, he hit the tyre and missed the dart board. Humphries decided to have a go himself at a long range shot on the snooker table and got it in just as the stream ended.
This after the duo shared an exchange during the challenge about what is the hardest. For reference Humphries and Van Gerwen didn't get close to their feat and neither did the golfers.
“I think if you’re an amateur person who hasn’t played snooker, hasn’t played golf, hasn’t played darts, you give them a set of darts, a snooker cue and a golf club, I think they would do a hole-in-one first, the nine-darter second and 147 last,” Humphries claimed.
“I think that would be harder. But to a professional, I think a nine-darter is harder than a 147. You have seen them (Murphy and Williams), they know all the angles…”
Murphy, the 2005 World Champion started laughing and said "I didn't know you were a comedian." Humphries didn't see the funny side saying: “What’s funny about that? Did you hear what I said though?”
“When you know all the angles, in my opinion and you have your own one, when you know all the angles (a 147 is easier),” Humphries continued. “You can see, Mark has come close already twice.
“That’s what I mean. I think when you are a professional and you are really good at the game of snooker, you make it look easy a 147.”
Luke Humphries, I wasn't really familiar with your game. 🎱@lukeh180 #PaddyPowerPerfectChallenge pic.twitter.com/qHGtGPu32E
