Ricky Evans is successfully through to the third round at the 2020 PDC World Championship after defeating Mark McGeeney in a 3-1 sets win.

Evans won eight legs without reply but stumbled through after McGeeney had late fight to force another set but in the end, the Kettering ace ended it well with a 170 checkout which thrilled the crowd and himself.
To begin, Evans in his rapid fire nature coasted to the first set without reply against the former BDO World Finalist as he looked good in the early going.
He went on to double his lead quickly when they returned to the stage smashing in a 64 checkout and going on the verge of the set. The Kettering ace claimed the second set from there as he was winning it without a single loss of leg so far.
Despite Evans going one away with a break of throw en route though in the next leg; McGeeney came back to avert the whitewash and this allowed him to relax and claim a break of throw from there which saw him go one away from claiming a set back himself.
He did so with a 74 checkout to ask the question of 'Rapid'. Evans brought it back on track though with a 92 checkout followed by a 54 checkout to break throw. He concluded it all with a 170 checkout for the victory which McGeeney even applauded.
