Luke Littler and
Nathan Aspinall are two of the best darters in the world, but in addition to darts, they are both big football fans. The duos shared passions were recently combined in a unique game.
Littler and Aspinall share a love of the same football club, namely Manchester United. Aspinall was even a talented goalkeeper there in his younger years, before eventually opting to follow a darts career instead, something he has clearly made a very successful choice with multiple major titles to his name so far.
In a video released by BBC Sport, both Littler and Aspinall were asked to throw a few darts toward a board decorated by images of various footballers. The first player whose picture was struck by a dart was thus ranked number, the second picture struck ranked number two and so on and so on. Aspinall didn't have to think for long and immediately chose Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo, or "the proper Ronaldo," as Aspinall somewhat controversially labels the Portuguese.
Littler followed and opted for the Argentine World Cup hero Lionel Messi, but found was unable to nail the former Barcelona man with any of his three darts. As such, Aspinall returned to the oche and did what Littler could not to nail the picture of Messi with his dart and lock the record eight-time Ballon D'or winner as the second ranked player on the darters list.
In terms of on the board, both Aspinall and Littler were in action recently at the US Darts Masters in New York. For Littler, Gerwyn Price in the semi-finals proved the stopping point whilst 'The Asp' only managed to reach the quarter-finals before losing out in a deciding leg to world champion Luke Humphries.
