James Wade produced a brilliant comeback from 6-2 down and survived multiple match darts to snatch a draw against
Jose de Sousa as Night 11 of
Premier League Darts action continued.
Wade claimed a share of the spoils with a 97.4 average and 58% on the doubles in what could be an important point for his own play-off ambitions.
De Sousa broke straight away in the tie pinning a 65 checkout on double four to head into the lead and consolidated that break from there.
Wade did not suffer a double break and held his throw with a 13-darter on double 18 but with De Sousa's early brilliance, he took out 74 on double 20 to regain a two-leg cushion.
He broke once more at 4-1 with a 14-darter on 72 going his usual two double 18's route but he couldn't yet surge away with Wade breaking back and closing his advantage to two with a last dart in hand double five.
De Sousa in the requisite leg missed the bull for a 161 but he lead by three again with 25 checked out on double six. A 14-darter on double 10 saw him at 6-2 up and seemingly cruising towards victory.
But at times, De Sousa has trouble closing matches out and this occurred once more as he couldn't grab at least a point.
Wade kept battling and before long was only two legs behind once more at 6-4 down. He moved within one with a 57 checkout on double 20 at 6-5 down.
But finally De Sousa stopped his charge thanks to double five second dart to make it 7-5. Despite that though, he squandered three match darts and Wade held throw to go to within one again and send it to a decider.
This proved pivotal as Wade pounced on another missed dart from De Sousa and he claimed a draw.
