The opening semi-final is confirmed on Night 12 of
Premier League Darts action in Dublin with
James Wade set to face
Gerwyn Price later this evening.
Wade as usual continued his play-off push and gained revenge after losing in the semi-finals last week with a 6-5 victory over Michael van Gerwen as he looks for a second weekly title.
It was a superb opener with ‘The Machine’ in the end punishing three missed match darts from MVG who came from 4-2 down to send it all the way.
This featured a 130 checkout which acted as the catalyst for Mighty Mike and after Wade missed 141 for the match, MVG returned to send it all the way but like alluded to spurned a handful of darts to win.
This allowed Wade back to pick his pocket and move through averaging 99.6 in the process as MVG will now turn his attention to playing in Graz this weekend.
One player who won’t be there in Austria is Price but he will be in the Premier League Darts semi-finals later after he kept his slender hopes of still qualifying for the play-offs alive by defeating Joe Cullen 6-3.
It was a scrappy tie with neither at their best but it was Price who won through in the end averaging 90 to 81 from Cullen which proved the difference with ‘The Iceman’ not firing on the doubles hitting 6/26 but producing better scoring than ‘The Rockstar’ who sees his hopes fade slightly.
