Waites battles past Scutt, Gilding continues form with Plaisier win

The Dutch Darts Championship continues with Scott Waites, Andrew Gilding and Ross Smith moving into the second round in Zwolle.

Waites and Connor Scutt was potentially seen as the tie of the session but became a scrappy affair with 'Scotty 2 Hotty' prevailing in the end with an 83 average with only 6/24 on his doubles despite victory.

While for Gilding, it was continued quality as 'Goldfinger' who has been one of the most in-form players in the PDC this season saw off a European Tour success story in Wesley Plaisier who despite being on home soil fell 6-4.

The victor averaged 99 in the end with three 180's and 42.9% on his doubles with a highest checkout of 114 which was to seal the win.

Smith finally saw off Kevin Burness with ease averaging 88 and producing a highest checkout of 123 en route to a 6-1 victory with Ryan Searle next up for him tomorrow.

While for Gilding and Waites, it will be Krzysztof Ratajski and Damon Heta who await.
