Beau Greaves makes a highly anticipated return to the big stage at the 2025
Grand Slam of Darts. The 21-year-old Englishwoman impressed this year and has already won tournaments on the Development Tour, Challenge Tour and PDC Women's Series. Locked in a group of death with
Michael van Gerwen,
Gary Anderson and Niko Springer though, the question is how far can she go in Wolverhampton?
Thanks to her second place in the final standings of the Development Tour, Greaves is already assured of a PDC Tour Card for the next two years. Greaves, who in recent years opted each time for the WDF World Championship at Lakeside - which she managed to win three times in a row - this year chooses the
PDC World Darts Championship.
"She's comfortable now. And to get comfortable in a situation, you have to be in it," says former PDC Tour Card holder
Matthew Edgar on
Sky Sports'
Love the Darts podcast. "She's integrated things in slowly. A bit of Development Tour, a bit of Challenge Tour and a few Pro Tours."
And as Edgar notes, the evidence of success is there for all to see. "Just look at what she has done this year," he explains. "On a Pro Tour, she lost 6-5 to Luke Littler averaging over 100, then went and beat him at the World Youth Championship. She's beat Josh Rock, she had that great game with Luke Humphries at the UK Open, so it's not like she's only beating the lower ranked players. She's taking on the best."
"No one will want to face her at Ally Pally"
As mentioned, Greaves takes on Michael van Gerwen, Gary Anderson and Niko Springer in the group stage of the Grand Slam of Darts, a tough task, but one that Edgar sees the women's world champion coming through. "I think Beau Greaves is going to go deep. I think she gets out this group and I think she goes quite far. And I'm going to go with Gary Anderson to go alongside."
Michael Bridges agreed with Edgar's evaluation, looking further ahead to the World Darts Championship in December. "No one will want to face her at Ally Pally," he notes. "She is a nightmare draw."
Emma Paton meanwhile referenced recent history to prove the point. "When
Nathan Aspinall beat her at the Grand Slam a couple of years ago in a last leg decider, he celebrated like he'd won the World Championship!" Paton recalled. "He was so relieved."
Greaves has played at Alexandra Palace once before in her career (2023). Then she lost in the opening round 3-0 to Irishman William O'Connor. At the Grand Slam of Darts in both 2023 and 2024, she went home in the group stage both times.
