Participants at the World Grand Prix 2024 can raise money for charity during the World Grand Prix 2024. For every time the double 20 is hit, tournament sponsor Boylesports will transfer 20 pounds to charity.
More doubles are hit at the World Grand Prix than at any other tournament. This is because players must not only end the leg with a double, but also start it with one.
Most players choose their favorite double to open a leg with. Double 16 is a popular choice for many players, but there are also many darters who opt for the double 20. According to the PDC, Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, James Wade, Michael Smith and Dave Chisnall choose the double 20 as their favorite double to open a leg with.
It is up to the player who hits the double 20 most often during the World Grand Prix which foundation the money will go to. This player gets to choose which charity the money goes to.
The PDC reports that Luke Humphries has chosen Prostate Cancer UK, should he hit the double 20 most often. With Michael van Gerwen, the choice has fallen on the Make-A-Wish foundation, and Jonny Clayton has favored 11Speed. Gerwyn Price supports the Greyhound Trust, and Stephen Bunting would like to donate the money to Marie Curie Cancer Care. Damon Heta hopes to raise money for Movember.
