World number one Price ruled out of 2021 Premier League Darts after testing positive for Covid-19, replaced by Wade

Ahead of the opening night of the 2021 Premier League Darts, some big news has emerged with World Number One, Gerwyn Price ruled out of this years' tournament after testing positive for Covid-19.

All players as usual were tested on arrival at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes ahead of the 17-night tournament which runs over the next month but Price returned a positive result.

He will now return home to enter a period of self-isolation in accordance to government guidelines and will be replaced by UK Open champion, James Wade.

Wade was in Milton Keynes and on stand-by as the next highest ranked player in the PDC Order of Merit not to be involved in the line-up and so will be a direct replacement for the World Champion.

The 2009 Premier League champion will now take on Gary Anderson on Easter Monday, with Rob Cross next up on Tuesday.
