Peter Wright has put the disappointment of the World Grand Prix where he had a single leg in losing to Michael van Gerwen behind him and could yet get his revenge in the final of the Gibraltar Darts Trophy.
This after Wright produced an incredible display to down Rob Cross and will face Van Gerwen or Damon Heta shortly on the Rock in the final edition of the European Tour staple.
In this tie, his blistering form was shown with a 108.6 average, six 180's and an 8-1 win over Cross who will now head into the European Championship in two weeks as defending champion still without a European Tour title.
But for 'Snakebite', he could yet add a second of the year. He began with a 180 and double 12 for a 13-darter before breaking with an 80 checkout after missed darts for a hold from Cross and followed that up with a stellar 121 checkout on double 18.
Two more breaks followed at 4-0 and 6-0 including a 94 checkout before Cross finally got a leg on the board with an 11-darter but it was too little too late as Wright responded with one of his own to seal it.
