Peter Wright is through to the Quarter-Finals of the World Grand Prix after reeling off six consecutive legs to down Krzysztof Ratajski and now has his sights set on a maiden triumph.
Wright spoke about not having his wife Jo in the venue who is still doing his hair but is having to have more operations including like 'Snakebite' on her gallstones but that he's here to do a job and that is win the title in Leicester.
"It's very hard but I'm here to do a job and if I've got to win the tournament, I've got to play better than that. Impressed with the guys last night especially Gezzy, he played very well. I'm not going to give him no stick, he played very good but missing that many darts at doubles and playing Joe Cullen next, practice your doubles buddy.
A lot has been made about his mind games including calling Michael van Gerwen's form mediocre in his post match interview and prior comments on Gerwyn Price.
"I didn't listen to his interview so I don't care. I learnt it off Phil Taylor, I used to watch him wind everyone up. Nowadays everyone has got their headphones in so you can't wind them up in the back room. Everyone is so serious. I'm on the way out so I need to try and win games."
But he believes if he reaches the final, he will meet Gerwyn Price with seeds mainly being culled in his half.
"We've got all the good players in our half, the seeds have dropped out in the other so it'll make it easier for Gezzy. There's only one seed left in his side. If I'm going to win this, I've got to play better than that. I got away with that even though I was not nowhere near being pushed."
"I think he'll definitely get in the final and hopefully I can do the same and Number One and Two can battle it out and it'll be good for TV."
