Wright secures Champions League of Darts semi-final spot with victory over Price

There will now be a knockout game between Daryl Gurney and Gerwyn Price for the second player through from the group. 'Snakebite' averaged 102.8 with six 180's and a high checkout of 161 en route in a brilliant game.

It was a good start from both players but it was Price who took the early initiative with a 109 checkout to go 2-1 up.

Wright though smashed in a 161 checkout after Price had hit a 171 to set up a finish; as a result, it was 2-2 with the former averaging 108.68 and the latter averaging 116.67.

Price missed a 49 checkout in a brilliant passage of play and Wright pinned double nine with last dart in hand to break and go 3-2 up.

He held throw with both players still averaging in the early 100's; with Wright in particular still hovering over that 110-111 range.

Wright missed 64 to go 6-2 up and a big dart saw Price breaking throw on double six. A clinical 130 checkout saw him claw it back to within one at 5-4 down.

Wright didn't think Price would hit a 152 checkout and he didn't; meaning that he went two up again at 6-4 up.

Wright extended his two leg cushion at 7-5 up; as he edged towards the finishing line. Price cleaned up 76 to cut the deficit to 7-6; but a showpiece 125 checkout (Bull, 25, Bull) saw Wright edge towards the finishing line.

Despite that, Price clawed back two quick legs to make it 8-8 and really put the result up in the air. Price though couldn't hit a 145 checkout and this allowed Wright a break of throw to go one away from victory. He claimed the victory to go through to the Quarter-Finals from there.
