Peter Wright and Jose de Sousa are the next players through to the Last 16 of the 2021 Grand Slam of Darts as the line-up gets close to being confirmed.
Wright was set to qualify with a win in a group which saw Fallon Sherrock still attempting to qualify when she plays Gabriel Clemens shortly.
But 'Snakebite' held up his end to move through easing past Mike de Decker in a whitewash win.
It wasn't vintage Wright but it didn't need to be with De Decker averaging only 78 and only getting two darts at a double as he heads out with a whimper after defeats to Clemens, Sherrock and Wright.
While Luke Humphries claimed a 5-3 win over De Sousa but it wasn't enough for him to move through by a solitary leg as 'The Special One' who is defending champion in Wolverhampton claimed the legs he needed.
He needed 5-2 or better to claim his spot in the next round meaning a bittersweet end for the Newbury ace as the Portuguese now joins Mensur Suljovic who won through with a superb display earlier in the Last 16.
