Max Hopp is safely through to the second round at the 2020/21 PDC World Darts Championship after a straight sets victory over Gordon Mathers.
Hopp's routine victory saw him hit a 95 average and four 180's with a tie against Mervyn King next up for 'The Maximiser'.
It was a dominant start for the German as he claimed the opening set without reply with a 92 average and two 180's.
Mathers got his first leg on the board with a 120 checkout to begin the second set but this proved a consolation as Hopp took out 81 for a 12-darter and a 3-1 set win to double his lead.
Mathers returned with another big checkout in the form of a 139 to send the next set all the way but again it was a consolation as a 14-darter saw Hopp claim the win.
