Gerwyn Price and Dave Chisnall are through to the second round at the World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam after both securing brilliant victories to continue proceedings.
Price did the double over Michael Smith defeating him for the second time in a week after victory in the European Championship.
‘The Iceman’ broke with an 87 checkout and an 11-darter in the first leg. He doubled his lead in double quick time taking out 72 to double his lead.
Despite Smith pinning double 19 to trail 2-1, Price smashed in a 142 checkout to go 3-1 ahead. Smith responded brilliantly with an 87 checkout to close the gap to 3-2 behind but Price’s average was still up at 110.
‘Bully Boy’s resilience continued though as he made it 3-3 and level. Price though went one away stretching his lead again and he finished it off from there with a 102 average and 6/9 on the doubles.
Chisnall on the other hand made it hard work for himself at times towards the end but got over the line to defeat Simon Whitlock and continue his good form as of late.
The St Helens ace went 2-0 up in the early going and blasted his way to a 4-1 lead at the interval as he seemingly had one foot in the second round. This was further improved with him taking out 128 to go 5-2 up.
Whitlock remained in contention making it 5-3 with a break and it became nervy when Chisnall missed a match dart but an 11 darter to win 6-4 sealed it.
