Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the WDF has decided to ban all Russian darts players from their tournaments, meaning Anastasia Dobromyslova, Elena Shulgina, Aleksey Kadochnikov and Roman Obukhov will not be able to compete at Lakeside in April.
Fallon Sherrock and Jo Clements have been called up as replacements for Dobromyslova and Shulgina. The two English pair were the two highest ranked players in the WDF Ranking who were not part of the original field. When the event was still scheduled in January, Sherrock declined to take part. Now the tournament at Lakeside has been postponed to April 2-10 due to the coronapandemic, the Queen of the Palace will be competing.
The Russian men Kadochnikov and Obukhov have been replaced by John Scott and Landon Gardiner.
Tickets for the Lakeside WDF World Championship are on sale here.
Sherrock and Clements were the next two in the rankings, so I'm not sure what your point is.
She opted to play Q school. Can't blame her for that. Besides the comp was cancelled in jan due to low ticket sales. She will ensure a lot more tickets are sold this time so in fact it can be said that she is saving the comp by entering.
But you can't really say the places should have gone to the next in the rankings and then complain that the places went to the next in the rankings.
