Some big hitters kick off their PDC International Darts Open campaign on Friday evening.

Qualification for the World Grand Prix is on the line for a number of these players. That isn't the case for 2017 Grand Prix semi-finalist John Henderson. Hendo has secured his Dublin place, and can use the International Darts Open to focus on earning money towards other PDC majors. He plays veteran Magnus Caris in Riesa. Veteran Swede Caris hasn't appeared on the European Tour for more than a year, but will make life tough for the Highlander.
Robert Thornton needs at least a semi-final to have a chance of reaching the Grand Prix, an event he won back in 2015. His first opponent at the International Darts Open, Danny Noppert, has to at least make the last 16. Kyle Anderson requires a minimum of one win; he faces the tricky task of overcoming Ross Smith.
Terry Jenkins has been there, done that and got the T-shirt when it comes to PDC stage events. Friday's opponent, Matthew Dennant, can't say the same. But the pair will be on an even keel in Riesa. Following that tie is a meeting between Ryan Joyce and Gabriel Clemens, before German Darts Championship finalist James Wilson clashes with Adam Huckvale.
Robert Marijanovic faces Jan Dekker, before two seasoned pros collide as Steve Beaton is matched up with Vincent van der Voort.
