Ben Robb qualified for the PDC World Darts Championship last Monday, having previously secured qualification for the WDF World Championship at Lakeside.
Since the PDC has decided that participants at Lakeside will not be allowed to compete in the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace, Robb had to choose which tournament he will compete in. For players without a PDC Tour Card, it is possible to force placement for both World Championships through various circuits.
After some consideration, Robb has decided that he will participate in the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace. “I’d like to thank the WDF for all they’ve done to help me push my game forward," Robb told the WDF's official website. "It’s a real shame that I can’t play at both Lakeside and at the Ally Pally, but I’ve chosen to play in the PDC as I feel it’s the right thing for where I’m at in my career."
Robb is not the first player to face a choice between Lakeside or Alexandra Palace. Luke Littler, Berry van Peer and Beau Greaves also had to make this choice. Littler and Van Peer, like Robb, have chosen to participate in the PDC's World Darts Championship. Greaves will compete in the Women's World Championship at Lakeside.
