Gerwyn Price will not be competing in the
German Darts Championship this weekend. In announcing the draw for this tournament, the PDC announced that "The Iceman" has withdrawn.
According to PDC rules, Price is then replaced by the highest seeded player who lost his match in the final round at the Tour Card qualifying tournament. That person is
Ross Smith.
Remarkably, at the German Darts Championship, Smith was directly admitted to the second round. With Price's cancellation, the highest seeded player from the first round advances to the list of top-16 seeded players. The Englishman was seeded first at the qualifying tournament, but then lost his last match against Mickey Mansell.
