Brilliant Baggish seals USA v Canada battle against Campbell in whitewash win at PDC World Darts Championship

A game seen by many as being close on paper was anything but with Danny Baggish sealing the USA v Canada battle in a 3-0 sets win against Matt Campbell at the PDC World Darts Championship.

Looking to save his Tour Card, Baggish averaged 92 with a sole 180 but 45% on the doubles and high checkouts in the form of 118 and 116 and he will next face Mervyn King.

It was a superb start for Baggish who was averaging 99 with 60% on the outer ring with a 3-1 sets win to go 1-0 up. This was even after busting 116 to seal the set but he left 40 and pinned it to seal the early lead.

But a 13-darter on double 12 for Campbell saw him break to begin set two to hit straight back. He consolidated on double nine but couldn’t get a shot for the set off 99 and Baggish held on double four. He was still throwing to make it 1-1 though.

But Baggish produced a 12-darter in the form of a 116 checkout followed by a hold on double 10 for the set to give Campbell a must win three sets in a row equation.

Campbell held with a 94 checkout to start but Baggish produced a 118 checkout to level up. A 99 checkout saw Campbell go one away from a set back with Baggish needing to send it to a decider.

Campbell missed 108 for the set but returned to miss more darts and Baggish hit double eight for 2-2. Campbell missed 121 on the bull for the set and Baggish had the chance at 67 getting one dart at double 20 which he pinned.
