Nathan Aspinall had to battle but is through to the third round of the PDC
World Darts Championship after seeing off Boris Krcmar in a 3-1 sets win.
Aspinall produced a 97 average, three 180's despite only hitting 11/30 on the outer ring with 25% the achilles heel for the Croatian in going out of the tournament.
Aspinall missed 121 on the bull to hold and further darts which allowed Krcmar to break on double 20. A 71 checkout saw Krcmar go one away from an opening set.
Krcmar missed 120 for the set and Aspinall hit double five to avert losing the first set. Krcmar missed set darts again and Aspinall was suddenly throwing for the set.
This early scare was averted as Aspinall went 1-0 up with a 97 checkout. He held to begin the second set with a 90 checkout. But Krcmar hit double four to go one away from the set.
He missed the bull for a 121 for it and Aspinall reset himself only to miss two at double 20. But Krcmar missed two for the set and Aspinall hit double 10 to make it 2-2.
Albeit Krcmar was throwing for it and he missed three for it allowing Aspinall back for 121 but he didn’t get a shot. The Croatian hit double three though for 1-1.
A 102 checkout from Krcmar though was cancelled out and Aspinall broke back to draw level and he consolidated with a 60 checkout.
Aspinall then stole an 82 checkout for 2-1 up in sets. A break on double 20 put him towards the driving seat for the win. Aspinall missed 152 for 2-0 but Krcmar missed 78 on the bull to break back and ‘The Asp’ hit double eight for 2-0. Aspinall missed 121 on double 18 for the match but returned for the same target for the win.
