The tenth tournament of the Challenge Tour 2025 delivered a thrilling mix of high averages, unexpected results, and a well-deserved champion. Scott Campbell emerged victorious after a hard-fought 5-3 win over Dan Hands in the final. But while Campbell took home the title, several standout performances made headlines throughout the day.

Despite not going deep in the tournament, Tom Sykes put in a stunning performance by recording the highest average of the day (104.38). The 32-year-old Englishman dominated Dragutin Horvat with a 5-0 victory in the last 128, showcasing his scoring power. However, his run came to an end in the last 32, where he suffered a narrow 5-4 defeat to Dan Hands.

Sykes had started the year with ambitions of securing a PDC Tour Card, and while he fell short on that front, his performance here proves he remains a serious contender at this level.

Dutchman Danny van Trijp, a former Tour Card holder, also delivered a strong display, posting the second-highest average of the day (104.23). He kicked off his campaign with a solid 5-2 victory over Trevor Burkhill, showing glimpses of the form that once made him a regular on the professional circuit.

However, like Sykes, his tournament ended in heartbreak in the last 32, where he was edged out 5-4 by Christopher Wickenden. Despite the disappointment, van Trijp’s high-scoring ability suggests he remains a force to be reckoned with.

Rounding out the top three highest averages was the experienced Mervyn King. The 58-year-old made headlines for non-darts reasons earlier in the week due to reports of financial difficulties, but he let his darts do the talking on the oche.

King delivered a commanding 5-0 win over Ryan Palmer in the last 32, averaging an impressive 102.95. However, his run was halted in the next round, where he fell 5-1 to former Tour Card holder Jacques Labre.
