The
World Cup of Darts Final is halfway set with Wales duo
Jonny Clayton and
Gerwyn Price living up to their favourite tag and booking their third final in four years in the tournament.
Only winning it once, they will hope their name is on the pot this time around after losing to Australia in shock fashion last year.
They nearly fell at the semi-final stage though having to pull off an 8-7 win over Belgium duo Kim Huybrechts and Dimitri van den Bergh who now head home after a great run.
A team that hit the headlines mostly due to off-the-oche issues which were resolved for this tournament with mediation. Despite all that, it was still a semi-final run.
But now it is Scotland or home heroes Germany for Price and Clayton.
'The Iceman' in particular is used to a hostile atmosphere and he will use that if they play Germany or it could be the dream tie against Gary Anderson and Peter Wright.
It was nip and tuck to start the tie with Wales only going two clear at the half way stage. Huybrechts missed three to hold and Clayton pinned double 10 for a break of throw.
This was consolidated by a 13-darter from Price for 5-2. Huybrechts kept Belgium in touch with a hold at 5-3 and then 6-4.
But just as it looked like Wales were surging for the finish, back came Belgium.
Clayton missed three at double eight and Huybrechts picked his pocket to put it back on throw at 6-5. It was soon parity but going 7-6 up, it was so again with Van den Bergh hitting double 18 for 7-7.
But Clayton came up clutch when they needed them most hitting a superb 100 checkout to anchor his team home.
