Macmillan Cancer Support has received a bumper donation of £30,000 from Betfred following their annual sponsorship campaign during the World Matchplay.
For the second consecutive year, tournament sponsor Betfred launched a campaign where money could be raised for Macmillan Cancer Support in a variety of ways.
Per 180 score, 50 pounds would be transferred. A total of 324 maximum scores were thrown during the World Matchplay, already bringing in 16,200 pounds.
There was also a Nine-Dart Charity Challenge, in which celebrities could participate. Per point scored, 1 pound was added to the total. This action generated 9793 pounds, which already brought the amount raised to 25,993 pounds. Betfred then decided to increase the amount to 30,000 pounds.

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
