Chisnall charges through ⚡️ A really good game to end the afternoon on Day Seven, as Dave Chisnall sees off Andrew Gilding 3-1. Plenty of 180s between the pair, but some slack doubles at the wrong times cost Gilding. #WCDarts | R2 📺 bit.ly/WC23Live
After emerging victorious from a brilliant encounter with Andrew Gilding, Dave Chisnall is understandably full of confidence and he has a warning to the rest of the field at the PDC World Darts Championship. "If I play my A-game, I'm one of the favourites."
In one of the matches of the tournament so far both players fired in seven 180s and Chisnall was made to work for his win. Reflecting on his hard-fought win, "I knew he was going to play well," Chizzy said. "I had to be on my A-game. I knew I had to do something strong and I did."
One thing of note during the match was the number of bounce-outs Chisnall was unfortunate enough to get, including one that landed flush in the centre of double 3 yet still refused to stick in. When asked if he was considering an equipment change to try and find a solution to the problem, Chisnall was defiant. "No I'll keep the same. I do that a lot in practice at home, it's not the equipment though I've been using these all year."
An Ally Pally semi-finalist in 2021, Chisnall is confidently backing himself to go even further this time around. "If I play my A-game, I'm one of the favourites," he says. "I'm going to be hard to beat but in darts theres so much luck needed to win big tournaments so I'm going to need some of that."
