Durrant reacts after superb victory over Van Gerwen to reclaim Premier League top spot: "This is up there with any night in my career"

Glen Durrant claimed a superb victory over Michael van Gerwen to regain top spot in the Premier League standings and maintain his 100% record against the World Number One.
Durrant spoke afterwards and said it was up there in terms of one of the best nights of his career. He was in a confident mood and has his sights on assuring himself of a play-off spot.
"That's a big win and I'm a happy man," said Durrant. "Whatever sport you're in, it's special to beat the best player in the world and this is up there with any night in my career. Michael's the best player in the world right now and the second best player ever to pick up a dart, and tonight I beat him.''
"It's amazing - I've got so much respect for him and I'm going to enjoy the moment. I feel that I'm right up there now as one of the top ten in the world and I'm only going to get better.''
"I'm top of the Premier League and I'm proud of that, but I just want to stay in the top four now and make sure I'm in the Play-Offs."

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
