Luke Littler gave himself a well-deserved reward this week. The 18-year-old world darts champion, who recently got his driver's license, purchased a brand new personalized BMW.
The young Englishman passed his practical exam in one go on Monday, and without a single mistake. That success came after six failed attempts at his theory test - something he himself looked back on with a twinkle in his eye. "Come on! Passed in one go and zero mistakes," he wrote enthusiastically on social media.
Although Littler had previously indicated that his dream car was a Mercedes A-Class, he now deliberately chose a BMW 120 M Sport - the same brand with which he took his driving test. The sporty hatchback accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds and came fully customized, including a personalized license plate.
A video on Instagram showed the car being removed from under a cover, after which Littler proudly showed off his new acquisition to his followers. According to BMW's price list, without extras or modifications, the car would cost around 39,000 pounds.
Financially, however, the darter from Warrington need not worry. Since his spectacular breakthrough in 2023, he has collected nearly £1.7 million in ranking prize money. His final victory at the World Grand Prix also took him to within 72,000 pounds of the current world number one, Luke Humphries.
Next weekend, Littler will have another chance to capture that first place finish when he defends his title at the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton. The winner will pocket £150,000 there, while the losing finalist will receive £70,000. Should the tournament culminate in another showdown between the two Lukes, more than just the trophy is at stake.
