James Wade has defiantly said that he is far from done and will win another major title before he calls time on his career. The World No.6 remains one of the biggest achievers and also what if's.

Only three men have won more than his major title haul of 11, but of course he will always be known as the player who never quite got over the line to win a World title. He finished runner-up at the World Matchplay last year as well as reaching back-to-back UK Open finals and winning a pair of Players Championships.
He said that in his view his run at the top of the sport should be lauded more and that in his view not only could he have won more, but that he could've done so in the last 12 months even. He said that in his view he could've won all of the major finals he entered. "I've lost in three finals the last 12 months. I have been doing this 25 years. I think that is the key conclusion," said Wade at the US Darts Masters.
"Truth be known I think I should've probably won one of those three finals but I didn't. I'm still not finished. I will 100 per cent win another major, I will do before I retire. I have always been the same.
"Everyone always says you have won 10, 12, 13, whatever majors they are. I have probably lost in 30 or 35 of them. Which is 35 finals more than people can wish to have been involved in.
But he said that he is not blaming the fact that he wasn't good enough and more sees it as evidence that he wasn't in the right frame of mind. At the same time though, he added that he is not going to live his life on could or should and that he only sees his future which as alluded to includes another major title.

"The reason why I have lost in those is probably because I have not been good enough. I think more importantly I haven't been in the right frame of mind or I haven't prepared well.
"So, I am not going to harrow my career on what I could've won and should have won. I have won probably 10, 11 or 12 majors whatever it is.
"For every one of those I have lost in three finals. You can take that in two ways. I have been weak in finals or I have played great players and things have not gone well."

Pleased to have players to push him on

But also having new sparring partners in Luke Littler and Luke Humphries in his view only furthers his belief in himself that he can continue to produce and that the belief dribbles down. "Every time it comes up to a game like that I just think, 'Jesus if I had just practiced. If I had just put a bit of work in' but excuses is cheap and talk is cheap.

"They're doing really really great Luke and Luke. They're there flying the flag high for the PDC and they're increasing the value of the game which dribbles down to people like me.”
