"I'm not worried about it at all" - Wright unconcerned by lack of form as he looks to defend prize money heading into decisive part of the season

Peter Wright is back in action for the first time since his disappointing second-round exit at the World Matchplay this weekend, competing at the New Zealand Darts Masters on the World Series of Darts.

"I missed last year because of my operation, getting my gall bladder removed," Wright tells Mark Webster in an interview for the PDC. "I've had time off, obviously exited the Matchplay early so I've had more time on the practice board."

Despite the disappointment of the World Matchplay and a relatively quiet year by his own lofty standards, Wright remains confident as he heads Down Under. "I think the form is pretty good," he declares defiantly. As always with Wright though, there has been some tinkering with his set-up.

"I've gone for solid flights so I don't get any robin hoods, been practising with them and I've gone for a longer point. Longer point, longer stem and a solid flight," 'Snakebite explains. "I've brought four sets of darts! One's like Simon Whitock's like I started against Ryan Searle (at the World Matchplay e.d.) I was hitting everything with them in practice but they wouldn't work on stage."

Heading into a busy part of the year, Wright is defending a lot of prize money on the PDC Order of Merit. A few more early round defeats could see him drastically slip down the world rankings.

"I'm not worried about it at all for the rest of the season because I'm going to every tournament now," Wright answers however. "Whereas at the beginning of the season I thought I'd pick and choose. Obviously that doesn't work for me, I need to be at every tournament.
