Interest around the world is growing in darts and as it does so, more and more people are dreaming of career's as a professional in the sport. As it turns out, some that are already professional sportsmen are dreaming of a switch to the oche.

Gerwyn Price is of course the most famous example of such a switch. The Welshman successfully swapped a career on the rugby pitch for darts, winning the PDC World Darts Championship and becoming world number one at his peak a few years ago.

The latest big name sportsman to make the switch to darts, could be 23-year-old Dutch international footballer, Quilindschy Hartman, who has previously been linked with Premier League clubs such as Arsenal and Chelsea.

"I play darts a lot and think that after my football career is over, I'm really going to throw plenty of them. I will want to play in competitions, as that is something I love,” Hartman said recently in quotes collected by Express Sport. "I don't get much time for it at present because of the busy fixture calendar. But if I'm still as keen on darts when I retire as I am now, then I will really go for it."

"It would be a dream for me to play on a big stage like Alexandra Palace. That would be amazing," continues the four-tine Dutch international, who currently plulys his trade at Feyenoord. "I genuinely think that is something I'll be able to do if I get more time to practise. "If I play more often, I believe I can get there."

Whether or not Quilindschy Hartman becomes a more well know name to darting fans in the coming years remains to be seen, but it is a testament to the growing popularity of the sport worldwide that the Dutchman is even considering the switch.
