PDC Order of Merit Update: Nathan Aspinall storms back into top 10 as Ryan Joyce and Gary Anderson climb

Nathan Aspinall has firmly established himself in the PDC Order of Merit’s top eight after clinching the European Darts Trophy title last weekend. The Stockport ace surged from 12th to eighth in the rankings following his impressive victory.
Aspinall secured the title at the Euro Tour event in Göttingen with a string of high-quality performances, edging past Ritchie Edhouse (6-5) and Jermaine Wattimena (6-5) before dismantling Luke Humphries (6-1). He then overcame Gary Anderson in a nail-biting semifinal (7-6) and sealed the title with an 8-4 win over Ryan Joyce in the final, pocketing the £30,000 top prize.
However, ‘The Asp’ will need every penny of that prize fund as he faces a significant ranking challenge later this year. In July, Aspinall must defend the £200,000 he earned by winning the 2023 World Matchplay. Should he suffer an early exit in Blackpool, he risks plummeting out of the world's top 20.
Aspinall’s success had a direct impact on his rivals, forcing Chris Dobey and Dave Chisnall down one place to ninth and tenth, respectively. Gerwyn Price suffered an even greater setback, slipping two spots to 12th. Meanwhile, Peter Wright and Danny Noppert swapped positions, with Wright now ranked 13th and Noppert 14th.
Gary Anderson, buoyed by his semifinal run, climbed to 15th, pushing Josh Rock down to 16th. Ryan Joyce capitalized on his runner-up finish, making a three-place leap to 26th. Elsewhere, Jermaine Wattimena and Ricky Evans made slight gains, while Madars Razma and Richard Veenstra each dropped one place.
Lower down the rankings, Niko Springer made an impressive surge, jumping seven places to break into the top 100 at 94th. The biggest mover of the week, however, was Boris Krcmar, who rocketed up 12 places to reach 107th.
