Fallon Sherrock will return to the PDC World Darts Championship on the evening of Sunday the 17th of December. 'The Queen of the Palace' is set to face Jermaine Wattimena in the opening round.
Her fourth appearance at the Alexandra Palace, Sherrock is entering the tournament full of confidence. "I can't complain too much. I've had a week at the Modus Super Series and I was at Grand Slam," she says of her preparation to Weekly Dartscast. "Going into the World Championship now I've got a couple of exhibitions. They're good practice anyway, with obviously Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price and all that. So I think, preperation wise going into it, I'm good."
In a tough group at the recent Grand Slam of Darts, Sherrock acquitted herself well in losing efforts against both Michael van Gerwen and Rob Cross, plus took victory against Martijn Kleermaker. "Obviously I had Michael throw everything at me. Rob Cross played really well too, so I was happy that I could keep up with them," she analyses. "Yes I didn't get as many legs as I wanted against them but the fact that I could keep up with them and put them under pressure, I can kind of get a little bit of confidence from that."
Joining Sherrock in flying the flag for women's darts at the Alexandra Palace this year, will be Mikuru Suzuki. At the moment, Sherrock remains the only woman to win a game on the World Championship stage but the Englishwoman feels a Suzuki win could be the next big milestone for the women's game.
"Me and Mikuru winning at Ally Pally, just doing it as a team so there's not just one woman. It'd be really nice to have two women consistently getting through stuff and kind of pushing the women's game because I think that's what we need now," Sherrock concludes.
