After winning Dazzler-17 in Leeds on Wednesday, Luke Humphries won another exhibition tournament on Thursday night. The world number one proved the best at an event in Newcastle.
Humphries was one of four big names at this tournament. He was joined by Martin Adams, John Henderson and Nathan Aspinall. They played in the first round against an amateur dart player. That they can also throw a good dart was shown by the fact that Jack Howarth managed to win 3-1 against Adams.
Alan Bell managed to snatch one leg from Humphries, who reached the semifinals with a 3-1 win. Henderson and Aspinall then won 3-0 over Adam Atkinson and Karl Coleman, respectively.
Then in the semifinals, Humphries was too strong for Howarth, 4-1. Aspinall eliminated Henderson 4-3, giving the audience in attendance a final between two Premier League Darts stars. The final lasted the full seven legs too. In the end, it was Humphries who won 4-3 over Aspinall.
Many world top players play exhibition during this period. Not primarily for a nice extra pocket money, but also to keep up match rhythm ahead of the World Darts Championship.
