With the 2024 Premier League Darts campaign having reached its conclusion, it's time to review all the participants performances over the sixteen week league phase.
Sky Sports analysts Matthew Edgar and Laura Turner were present on the "Love the Darts" podcast to give their opinions on this year's eight contestants, starting with Luke Littler. "Won the league, won the title, nine-darter in the final, there's literally nothing you can mark him down on," says former PDC pro Edgar. "He has to be an A+."
Littler was too strong for Luke Humphries in the finals. "He too deserves an A+," PDC Women's Series star Turner says of the world champion on his Premier League debut. "In terms of actual performance, he's produced some amazing performances along the way. On debut as well, with the pressures of coming in as world champion and world number one. He's adjusted really well to the Premier League lifestyle."

Michael van Gerwen finished third in the regular season this year and lost out in the semifinals of the playoffs against Humphries. "I mean he qualified. He had a decent campaign, he won a few nights and it's hard to mark him down on anything to be honest," Edgar reviews. "A little bit the same with Michael Smith," Turner adds. "The way he qualified and held himself together to get into the top 4 was very good."
Understandably, as they go further down the table, the reviews are slightly more critical, starting with 5th placed Nathan Aspinall. "Judging it against expectations I don't think he did too badly," Edgar says. "He started badly and a feeling like we had a Nathan Aspinall of two halves. And the second half was significantly better, meaning he almost made it to the playoffs.
"Rob Cross put in some wonderful performances, he just left it too late," analyses Turner. "It took him too long to get going and it just wasn't enough."
Finally, we have Gerwyn Price and Peter Wright, two former world champions who flattered to deceive this Premier League season, casting doubt as to whether they will even return next year. "What is it with Gerwyn Price in the Premier League? He just can't get to grips with it," Edgar questions. "The thing is he actually played well. But he always struggles to make the top 4. It's crazy."
"I don't think what we see from Peter Wright in the Premier League naturally reflects what level he's actually playing at," Turner concludes. "But, it's difficult to even give him a grade."
