"The Premier League is not for everyone" - Wayne Mardle doubts we'll see Gerwyn Price in 2025 Premier League Darts

It's no secret that Gerwyn Price hasn't been enjoying the week-in week-out nature of the Premier League Darts over recent years. Although the Welshman recently returned to the top-4 in the PDC Order of Merit, whether or not he will be involved in the Premier League in 2025, remains to be seen.

''So happy that is done and dusted,'' Price wrote on his official Instagram story following the end of the final week of regular league phase action in Sheffield recently, having concluded the campaign in a lowly 7th place with just seven wins to his name all season. ''End of the Premier League for me. Would love to say I've enjoyed it but I'd be lying."

Four-time Premier League Darts star turned expert Sky Sports analyst Wayne Mardle recently weighed in on the Gerwyn Price debate in conversation with Online Darts. "To turn down an invitation to the Premier League is something you have to think about," Mardle begins, being able to empathise after having had his own struggles in darts' most gruelling tournament. "Gerwyn Price is very reactionary so however he feels in that moment, he'll post. He's got a habit of doing it."

"Don't forget he's also pulled out of the Masters, he's pulled out of other events and he's even threatened to pull out of the World Championships," Mardle continues. "The Premier League is not for everyone. When you are getting beat it's a horrible, horrible place to be. He enjoyed it last year going into the playoffs because he was that good and he's not enjoying it this year because he's getting beat. If he gets an invite, he may or may not accept it."

Whether or not Price even gets that invite isn't a guarantee though. "If you show a dislike and say 'I don't like it' and then don't turn up for one week, albeit I don't know if he had a bad back or not. But if you aren't reliable, why should you be relied upon?" 'Hawaii 501' questions. "I was pulled out so I know what it's like. I just feel this year missing one, not enjoying it, posting every week you're not enjoying is there a possibility he doesn't get invited? Yes."
