Martin Schindler took overall victory at the 2024 Swiss Darts Trophy in Basel on Sunday night, beating Ryan Searle 8-7 in a thrilling final final. For Schindler it is already the second title this year on the European Tour, previously he was also the best at the International Darts Open.
Thanks to this success, Schindler is now only the second German ever to win more than one PDC ranking title. The first to succeed was Max Hopp. 'Maximiser,' who is currently without a Tour Card, won the 2018 German Darts Open and added a Players Championship that same year.

Besides Schindler and Hopp, a third German has managed to capture a PDC ranking title. Ricardo Pietreczko succeeded last year by winning the German Darts Championship. In the final of that tournament, he defeated Peter Wright. This year Pietreczko came close to a second, playing in the final at the Flanders Darts Trophy, where he lost to Dave Chisnall.
However, responsible for the most finals in PDC ranking tournaments along the German side is none of the three gentlemen mentioned above. That goes to former World Darts Championship semifinalist Gabriel Clemens, the current world number 25 has managed to reach the final of a ranking tournament on six different occasions, but was on the wrong side of the final score each time.
The last German to already reach a PDC ranking final is perhaps the least known name. Daniel Klose lost in the final of the year's 21st Players Championship of the 2023 season against Gerwyn Price.
Quite remarkable, by the way, is that eight of these finals have taken place since early 2022. Germany has been a country on the rise in the darts world for years, but so now seems to have definitely left to deliver a finalist regularly at the major tournaments.
This week the German players already get another chance to add to this list. After all, the next Players Championship will be contested in Wigan on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Players from Germany played 15 finals on the Pro Tour. Over half of them (8) since the start of 2022. πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ Max Hopp πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡πŸ₯ˆ πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ Martin Schindler πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡πŸ₯ˆ πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ Ricardo Pietreczko πŸ₯‡πŸ₯ˆ πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ Gabriel Clemens πŸ₯ˆπŸ₯ˆπŸ₯ˆπŸ₯ˆπŸ₯ˆπŸ₯ˆ πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ Daniel Klose πŸ₯ˆ #Darts I #SDT24 I #ET12
