Most people can all remember those South African fans from the 2010 World Cup. Thousands of frenzied fans decked out with a vuvuzela in their hands. This is a wind instrument which can produce an enormous sound.
Last weekend, the African qualifying tournament for the
World Darts Championship was played in Kenya. The audience in attendance passionately sympathized with the players still in the tournament. However, one spectator quickly stood out, as this fan had brought a vuvuzela to the darts.
Fans on Twitter raved about the way the fans in attendance sympathized. ''Is that a Vuvuzela? This is one of the best tournaments I have seen in a long time, I hope the PDC builds on this,'' one fan wrote.
''I'm starting a petition to let these guys play every week. From me they can replace Premier League Darts. Vuvuzelas at a darts match, I'm already addicted to it,'' another darts follower wrote.
The African World Championship qualifying tournament was eventually won by Cameron Carolissen. The South African won in the final 8-7 over Peter Wachiuri, who missed one matchdart in the deciding leg to become the first Kenyan participant ever at the World Darts Championship and stole the hearts of darts fans. Over 2,000 people were watching the final at one point.
