Martin Schindler has snatched his second European Tour title of the year. The Wall, who won the International Darts Open earlier this year, beat Ryan Searle 8-7 in the final of the Swiss Darts Trophy. Although it took some luck and especially the cooperation of Searle.
Schindler had won earlier in the day from Raymond van Barneveld in the quarterfinals and in the semifinals he easily routed Josh Rock. The stars were in favor of the German, but it was not all plain sailing for Schindler. In the final he survived no less than seven match darts to still win the match. "I'm so happy to win this title," said Schindler. "I always believed that I have the ability to come back but I was lucky to win this one. Ryan was the better player but that's darts sometimes."

The 28-year-old Schindler has come a long way to get to the top. Currently, he has risen to become the first German in the world rankings. "Ten years ago I was working as a steward on these events; I've worked very hard to get to where I am today and I'm proud of myself."
There are a lot of majors coming up this fall, starting with the World Grand Prix that starts Monday, Oct. 7, at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester. "I fancy myself to do well in the big TV events coming up, but today is just about winning this trophy; that's all that matters to me now."
