Peter Wright is through to the final day of the 2025
Austrian Darts Open. The two-time champion of the world wasn't at his best on Saturday night, but did enough to set up a last 16 meeting with Ross Smith this Sunday afternoon.
Wright booked his place in the final day with a 6-3 win over Luke Woodhouse. The Scot pulled clear after a crucial break of throw at 4-2, following a missed 104 checkout from Woodhouse. Wright stepped in with a clinical 60 finish for a 14-darter and quickly consolidated for 5-2. Woodhouse battled back to 5-3 but squandered three darts to close the gap further, allowing Wright to finally seal the win. Despite a few flashes from the Englishman, it was Wright who controlled the match with a run of three straight legs and rarely looked in danger.

"He's got these deep grooves in his darts and he just kept hitting that. So he lost a lot of darts," Wright explained.
And as is often the case, Wright could call upon great support from those in attendance. "Mensur is out now, so I've got the whole crowd wanting me to win. Thank you very much!" 'Snakebite' called out in the arena.
That's not to say that Wright is without complaint however. "It is really, really hot up here and it's really, really hot in the practice room as well. I feel sick, I've got a headache and every time they are shouting or whistling it's just like: Oh my god..." Wright trails off. "But yeah, thank you for the support. You've all been amazing."
