Friday morning at 08:00 UK time the
third edition of the
New Zealand Darts Masters will begin. Due to the huge time difference with New Zealand, the tournament will be played in the morning our time.
Fortunately, they do not start so early that you have to set your alarm clock extra early and you can still watch top darts during breakfast or via a second screen at work. Several world top players have traveled - by invitation - to the World Series tournament in Hamilton.
Rob Cross is the first big name to go into action. The former world champion will take on
Darren Herewini. After that, the best Oceanic darter at the moment,
Damon Heta, faces Darren Herewini.
Dimitri van den Bergh also got to make the trip to New Zealand. The Belgian crosses swords with Haupai Puha in the first round.
Peter Wright will have a meeting with rookie Jonny Tata.
Brand new World Matchplay champion
Nathan Aspinall appears on stage in the fifth match of the session. 'The Asp' was paired with Kayden Milne in the draw for the New Zealand Darts Masters.
The top event of the evening is the clash between former world champion
Gerwyn Price and two-time major winner
Simon Whitlock. Then it's time for world champion and world number one
Michael Smith, who will play against Darren Penhall. The only Dutch participant in 'Down Under' is not up until the last match.
Danny Noppert will then make his appearance against
Ben Robb, New Zealand's best dart player.
