Luke Littler returned to the top of the
2026 Premier League Darts table with a dramatic 6-5 victory over
Luke Humphries in the Night 13 final in Aberdeen.
In a high-quality contest between the world’s top two players, Littler held his nerve in a deciding leg, pinning D10 after missed match darts to seal back-to-back nightly wins and leapfrog
Jonny Clayton in the standings.
Both players averaged over 103 in a final that swung repeatedly, with Humphries twice moving to the brink of victory before Littler fought back to force a decider and take control at the crucial moment.
How Littler and Humphries reached the Aberdeen final
Littler produced another strong opening display, defeating
Josh Rock 6-3 with a high-quality performance that saw him average over 105. A crucial break of throw proved decisive, with Littler pulling away late on to book his place in the semi-finals.
He then backed that up with a dominant display against
Gerwyn Price, easing to a 6-1 victory. Price struggled to find his level throughout, and Littler capitalised, racing into an early lead and never allowing his opponent back into the contest.
For Humphries, the night began with a crucial win in the race for the play-offs. The defending champion defeated
Michael van Gerwen 6-3, but the manner of the performance was just as notable as the result.
Humphries adopted a far more methodical, deliberate approach throughout the match, significantly slowing his pace at the oche. While it did not always translate into clinical finishing, it disrupted the rhythm of the contest and ultimately proved effective in securing a vital victory over a direct rival.
He then followed that up with another composed display against
Gian van Veen in the semi-finals, coming through 6-3. A stunning 160 checkout to break the throw proved the key moment, allowing Humphries to take control before closing out the match and reaching just his second weekly final of the season.
Littler holds nerve in deciding leg to deny Humphries
The final opened at a blistering pace, with both players immediately finding their scoring range. Littler struck first, holding throw with a confident opening leg before Humphries responded in kind, and the contest quickly settled into a pattern of high-quality exchanges. A brilliant 130 finish on the bull saw Humphries level at 2-2, while Littler edged back in front via D1 to maintain his advantage.
The turning point appeared to come when Humphries broke for the first time, punishing a missed bull from Littler to move 4-3 ahead. He then capitalised on further missed chances to extend his lead to 5-3, leaving himself one leg away from a first nightly win of the season.
But Littler responded. A composed 88 finish reduced the deficit, before a clinical 86 checkout forced a deciding leg as the momentum shifted once again. With the darts in hand, Littler created the first opportunity in the decider, and although two match darts went begging, Humphries was unable to apply pressure from 120.
Roundup: Van Veen strikes big as Price gains ground in play-off race
Night 13 in Aberdeen delivered a significant shift in the race for the play-off places, particularly behind the leading pair.
Clayton’s quarter-final defeat proved costly, with Van Veen’s 6-2 victory over the league leader halting his momentum and ultimately opening the door for Littler to move top of the table.
Van Veen’s win, sealed with a brilliant 152 finish, represents a major step forward in his push for the top four. Picking up points again on the night strengthens his position as the most consistent challenger just outside the play-off places.
There was also a positive outcome for Gerwyn Price, who battled back to defeat
Stephen Bunting in the quarter-finals before falling in the semi-finals. Those two points could prove valuable in his bid to secure a play-off spot, keeping him firmly in contention as the chasing pack continues to tighten.
