Durrant was 7-3 down and his doubling was a massive issue but he salvaged a 7-7 draw and when his doubling was on, he hit three ton-plus checkouts en route.
Anderson started the best hitting a 127 checkout to claim first blood against the Premier League leader. He went 3-1 up from there after Durrant missed a dart at the bull.
It was soon at parity though with Durrant taking out 138 and 117 back to back to make it 3-3. This wasn't a catalyst though as he started to miss doubles from there and Anderson helped himself to a 6-3 lead including two double tops for an 80 checkout.
After such a good middle part to the tie, Durrant missed three more doubles and Anderson punished again to make it 7-3.
He came back again though on the verge of defeat but could have been going back with 0 points after Anderson missed six match darts. This allowed Durrant off the hook and was a catalyst for him revival.
Another match dart went and Durrant made it three in a row before concluding the draw from the brink.
