The qualification criteria has been confirmed for the 2022 WDF World Championship which is set to take place at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green between Saturday 1 - 9 January 2022.
The Men's World Championship will be made up of 48 players. How this is compiled is the sixteen highest ranked players from the WDF Main Ranking table.
This list is currently headed up by Brian Raman, Paul Hogan, Chris Landman and Mike Warburton on the men's side with Wayne Warren, Ross Montgomery and Jim Williams qualifying through the second criteria which is winning a Platinum/Gold tournament.
This table will be confirmed at the conclusion of the World Masters with the winners of the England, Welsh, Seacoast and Denmark Open joining them as well as the Pacific Masters, World Masters, British Open and Irish Open with the aforementioned trio qualifying as winners of the World Championship, Dutch Open and Scottish Open in 2020.
The No.1 and No.2 ranked players in the WDF's Regional Ranking tables will also be added to the 48 which includes UK/Ireland, North Europe, New Zealand, USA, West Europe, Australia, East Europe and Canada.
There will also be four qualifiers from the World Championship qualifier held at the World Masters with the WDF Main Ranking table utilised to prop up numbers if the full allocation isn't taken from the Regional Tables.
On the Women's side of the draw, it will be similar but with 24 players. The eight highest ranked players from the WDF Main Ranking will qualify.
As well as the winners of the Platinum and Gold tournaments meaning that Aileen de Graaf, Beau Greaves and Mikuru Suzuki already have their spots.
The no.1 ranked player from each regional ranking will also qualify as well as two spots from the qualifier also.
In the scenario of more than 48 men and 24 women qualifying, there will be additional preliminary matches added to the line-up.
