In a match that will long be remembered for a moment of magic from Christian Kist, it was the Dutchman's opponent, Madars Razma who will likely leave the happier of the two, having booked his place in round 2 with a 3-1 win.
Twelve months on from being the first victim of Luke Littler's breakthrough, Christian Kist was back on the Alexandra Palace stage. In Madars Razma though, the former Lakeside champion was faced with a very capable operator. Both players settled quickly too in a good-quality opening set. After four holds of throw, the set went to a decider in which Kist had the darts. In truth though, advantage of throw or not Kist left Razma with no chance, hitting the first nine-darter of the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship to seal the first set in the most scintillating style, earning himself, prostate cancer UK and one lucky member of the crowd 60 thousand pounds in the process!

After the elation of the nine-darter, Kist was understandably a little cooler in the second set. The first three legs still went with the darts though, before Razma secured the first break of throw of the contest in leg 4, via a 12-darter to even things up at one set apiece.
The solid holding of throw continued in the third set though as Kist settled himself back down in the opening leg, before a relieved Razma pinned the double last dart in hand in the following to keep in touch. Razma then broke the Kist throw in leg three and convincingly backed up to get himself in front at 2-1.
Razma was completely relentless at this point, staunchly holding throw again to open set 4 and then attacking the Kist throw with a 180 to kick off leg 2. Kist though, wasn't ready to go home just yet and held firm in that leg to level the set at 1-1. The Dutchman then missed his big opportunity, passing up a pair of darts on the outer ring with Razma punishing to move one away from victory. With a 14-darter Kist forced a deciding leg, but Razma had the darts and opened with a maximum. Winning it in 11 darts, Razma saw off the Kist challenge to book a date with Dirk van Duijvenbode.
