This week, the
Premier League Darts roadshow rolls into Birmingham for Night 13 of the 2025 season. The action takes place at the Utilita Arena Birmingham, a familiar stop on the tour since its debut in 2007.
That inaugural year saw Birmingham host the final round of the league phase, featuring established names like Raymond van Barneveld, Roland Scholten, and Phil Taylor. A young Adrian Lewis also made an early impression on the big stage.
Few players thrived in Birmingham quite like Phil Taylor. In his thirteen appearances at the venue, ‘The Power’ averaged over 100 an astonishing eleven times, with a cumulative average of 104.02. His finest display came in 2012, when he produced a scintillating 116.10 average to dismantle James Wade 8-1.
Follow the Premier League Darts 2025 via our live scores!Of the current eight-man field, four players have yet to win a match in Birmingham. Unsurprisingly,
Michael van Gerwen tops the wins chart, with eight victories from fourteen appearances. Yet, for a player of his calibre, even that record feels modest.
Van Gerwen, however, did emerge victorious here in 2024, beating Nathan Aspinall (6-4), Michael Smith (6-4), and
Luke Littler (6-3) en route to that night's title. Jonny Clayton lifted the weekly crown in both 2022 and 2023, defeating the likes of Smith, Wright, Wade, Aspinall, and Van Gerwen across those campaigns.
Luke Littler v Stephen Bunting
After a dominant start that saw him win four of the first eight nights, Luke Littler has seen his momentum cool. The teenage sensation has picked up just four points in the last four weeks, and his once-comfortable lead over
Luke Humphries has narrowed considerably. Still, one more nightly win would make Littler the first player in Premier League history to win five league nights in a single season.
On Thursday, he could also break the record for most 180s in a single league phase. He currently sits on 128—the existing record—after twelve of sixteen nights.
For Stephen Bunting, Birmingham represents a final lifeline. With just eight points to his name, ‘The Bullet’ realistically needs to win the night to stay in playoff contention. He currently trails fourth place by nine points.
The two have met three times this season. Littler dominated the first two (6-3, 6-0), but Bunting edged their most recent clash in Rotterdam, 6-5. In fact, Bunting has won three of their seven meetings overall, proving he can hold his own against the teenage prodigy.
Nathan Aspinall v Chris Dobey
Chris Dobey finds himself in a similar position to Bunting—on the brink of playoff elimination. A loss to Nathan Aspinall on Thursday would all but end his hopes, especially since he’s facing the man currently occupying fourth place.
Dobey’s recent form has improved after a slow start to the campaign. He’s survived the opening round in three of the last six weeks, with his crowning moment being the Night 10 title in Rotterdam.
Aspinall, meanwhile, is under pressure from a resurgent Michael van Gerwen. With both men level on points, ‘The Asp’ holds a slight edge thanks to his Night 5 victory in Exeter, giving him a crucial bonus point. Still, Aspinall will want to secure his own fate and avoid relying on tie-break scenarios.
They’ve split their head-to-heads in this year’s campaign—Aspinall winning 6-5 in Exeter, Dobey responding with a 6-2 win in Rotterdam. Overall, Aspinall leads their rivalry 9-4.
Luke Humphries v Gerwyn Price Arguably the headline fixture of the evening pits second-placed Luke Humphries against third-placed Gerwyn Price. ‘The Iceman’ is fresh off a superb Night 12 win in Liverpool, which saw him leapfrog Aspinall and Van Gerwen into third place with 20 points. A win in Birmingham would put one foot in the playoffs.
Humphries, meanwhile, has been steadily closing the gap on Littler. With three final appearances in the last six weeks, ‘Cool Hand Luke’ now sits just four points off the top spot. A win over Price would be another huge step toward finishing top of the table and securing a playoff berth.
The pair have met four times this season, with each man winning twice. Their latest clash came in last week’s final, where Price edged Humphries 6-4. That victory also gave the Welshman a narrow 11-10 lead in their career head-to-head.
Rob Cross v Michael van Gerwen
For Michael van Gerwen, the playoffs are slipping further from reach. Out of the top four since Night 10, ‘Mighty Mike’ is in must-win territory as he takes on Rob Cross.
This is also a battle between the only two players yet to win a night in this year’s competition. Cross, in fact, hasn’t even reached a final. Despite that, consistent quarterfinal wins have kept ‘Voltage’ just three points behind Van Gerwen, and a win here would reignite his playoff bid.
Recent history favors Cross—he’s won six of their last seven meetings, including a 6-5 victory in Exeter earlier this season. Still, Van Gerwen boasts a commanding 29-13 lead in their overall head-to-head.
Winner's bonus of £10,000
A unique aspect of the Premier League is that a separate tournament is played each week of play, with the winner receiving an additional £10,000. This means that a player who manages to win multiple weeks of play can boost his prize money considerably. Since the league lasts for 16 weeks, an additional total of £160,000 can be distributed to the winners of these nights of play.
With performances, players also earn points toward the Premier League standings. The winner of a weekly tournament receives five points, while the losing finalist takes home three points. Semi-finalists keep two points and players who lose their opening match go home scoreless.
