Rob Cross ended the Grand Slam of Darts hopes of Fallon Sherrock on Tuesday night. 'Voltage' took a 5-2 win, securing himself in the knockout stages alongside group winner Michael van Gerwen.
Although the 5-2 scoreline might seem like a comfortable day at the office for Cross, the former World Champion knows he was pushed. "When she had a great first leg and broke my throw, I thought it's getting a little bit twitchy," he admits. "Overall I held myself together very well. A professional job tonight and yeah, I just sort of felt back to my old self."

"She's a phenomenal player. She's really special, she knows how to dish out at the right times," Cross continues, full of praise for Sherrock. "I was grateful in a way that she had them dull moments where she just struggled to find it. But at the same time, I was steady after getting back to one-all."
One point of contention in the match was when Cross turned down a shot at the bull, instead setting up a double next turn and hoping Sherrock wouldn't take out her finish. "I'd have done it to anyone. I do it all the time. If you watch my games back, on the floor or even on TV I'm quite happily to play the percentage shot," he explains. "I will get bitten from it, and I have been bitten in the past but overall, out of 100 legs I'd probably only get bitten two or three, maybe five times."
With the victory over Sherrock, 'Voltage' maintained his perfect record at having always progressed through the groups at the Grand Slam of Darts. In the knockouts, Cross will face off with World Matchplay champion Nathan Aspinall.
