Aspinall’s resurgence checklist not yet complete after Krcmar win: “The Premier League not ticked yet”

Nathan Aspinall's return to form in 2022 continued with an impressive 3-1 victory over Boris Krcmar, sealing his place in Round 3 at the PDC World Darts Championship. "All I can take is positives from that game to be fair."

With Aspinall getting off to a relatively slow start, going 2 legs down in the opening set the Stockport native believes he caught up in the electric Ally Pally atmosphere. Understandable as the crowd serenaded the Asp with his walk-on song, Mr Brightside, long after the music had stopped. "The walk on threw me, what an atmosphere," he said. "It was an amazing moment as a person and a young lad who wants to be a dart player was wow. Hairs on my arms were standing up."

A two-time former semi-finalist at the Alexandra Palace, Aspinall is coming into this year's World Championships on the back of two tv finals this year, at the World Grand Prix and the Grand Slam of Darts, making him a dark horse for overall victory in many people's eyes. The Asp isn't getting too ahead of himself however, "I'm at the point now where I've matured into the status that I have as a dart player. I don't even look into that any more." he says. "Going to go have a lovely Christmas now with my family, come back and fingers crossed I'll lift this trophy."

With Aspinall's career resurgence well and truly in full swing, the Asp admits he's craving a return to the Premier League. "I've set myself targets," he says. "Get back in the top 16, tick. Get back in the top 10, tick. Make a major final, tick. Premier league, not a tick yet but that's what I'm working towards."
